Model for a Day

I booked a professional makeup artist and photographer for a photoshoot at the Art Gallery of Ontario in preparation of this Propr LifeStyle website. I was feeling way out of my comfort zone. On the day of the shoot I woke up extra early because I felt very nervous about how the day was going to unfold.

Irene, the makeup artist made the process easier and even fun. We went over the outfit for the shoot. Discussed makeup colours and the overall look to be conveyed.

I wanted to share some insightful makeup tips I learned:

  1. For the makeup to last all day, start with a face primer. I am currently using Tru Blend by Covergirl.
  2. To eliminate the look of dark circles under the eyes, start off with a camouflage that matches your skin tone before applying a concealer. I have since bought Lancome’s Tient Idole Ultra Wear in red and it does wonders.
  3. Pat on liquid foundation lightly layering using 2 to 3 applications to give a more natural glowing look. Irene used very little at a time.
  4. Smile when applying your blush to highlight the right area on the cheeks. I like to use Iman’s Luxury Blush Powder in Redwood.
  5. Eyebrow shaping is key to the framing of the face. I am currently using Maybelline’s Brown Precise pencil and brush applicator to fill in gaps and to help make eyebrows appear more full.
  6. Liquid eyeliner can create a more dramatic effect depending on the thickness of the line. For the shoot, eyeliner was extended past the outer ends of the lid. I am currently using Lancome’s Grandiose Eyeliner with it’s adjustable tilted applicator. Loving it’s ease of use to create a thin or wider line depending on the look I want.
  7. Gold eyeshadow was applied, with dark grey for the outer lids for that smokey eye effect.
  8. Irene also did an under eye liner using Mac’s Blue Flame iridescent powder blended in and it turned out beautiful.
  9. We wanted to add glamour with the lip so Irene combined an orange and red colour a bit of pop. She first put a bit of foundation on the lips then a lip liner before applying the lipstick. A red lipstick I am using of late is Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist matte lip paint #351.
  10. Last but not least, Irene stressed the importance of adding a few false eyelashes to finish off the look.
