Hello! I’m Althea Johnson, Beauty Journalist, K-Beauty Expert and a Certified Skincare Coach based in Toronto. At 59, I’ve embarked on a transformative skincare journey that began with a life-changing trip to Seoul, Korea, in 2017. There, I immersed myself in the world of Korean skincare, discovering how advanced technology beautifully melds with traditional ingredients. These result-oriented practices and products helped me conquer severe cystic acne and eczema, while significantly improving my skin's elasticity and texture.
Inspired by this breakthrough, I launched one of Canada’s first online Korean skincare stores in 2017 and later opened a retail location on Ossington Avenue. Over the past seven years, I’ve had the pleasure of serving tens of thousands of customers and conducting hundreds of one-on-one consultations, empowering clients to master their own K-Beauty routines that yield real results.
Why I Closed My Retail Store
Fast forward to 2025: while there are countless stores offering Korean skincare, few resources exist to help you navigate the myriad of products and ingredients that suit your unique skin needs. This realization prompted me to close my retail store to focus my energy on a more personalized approach to skincare.
Althea was nominated as Entrepreneur of the Year by eBay in 2019 and inducted into eBay’s Hall of Fame in 2020. Proprlifestyle has been featured in The Toronto Guardian, Globe and Mail, S/ Magazine, The Kit, Buzzfeed & Narcity.
