The KBeauty Routine
I had stopped using toners years ago when my sensitive skin experienced severe irritation and rash reactions, even with the most expensive brands on the market. So you can imagine how surprised I was by the importance of the Toner in the Korean Skincare routine when consulting with a skincare expert in Seoul about my skin.
That is when I was re- introduced to Kbeauty softening toners. These toners are called softening because they are moisturizing and contain no alcohol or irritating alcohols. With over 50% of the Korean population having sensitive skin, Korean Brands introducted new formulations for toners in the last 10 years that have become very advanced and are pre-tested on the most sensitive skin types before coming to market.
Introducing The Softening Toner
A softening toner is very important because after cleansing your face, the pH balance becomes more alkaline and needs to be re-set to a 5.5 pH balance. The difference with Korean brands when it comes to toners is the philosophy behind them. The goal is to have toners that soften, and not strip or irritate the skin.
A few examples are (click here) Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Toner for combination/Oily skin types and (click here) Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner for all skin types that can also be used over makeup to refresh the skin during the day. Both toners are great for sensitive skin types.
The Korean 7 Skin Method
This new method is a hot new trend in Seoul, Korea at the moment. It is done to boost and extend hydration of the skin. The 7 skin method consists of layering an essence-toner onto your skin up to 7 times for a boost of hydration that helps with the absorption of the serum and moisturizer that follows.
I have incorporated a 3 Skin Method in the last 5 months now and it has made a big difference to my skin’s texture and overall hydration. I now practice the 3 Skin Method in my morning and night time routines using (click here) Pyungkang Yul Essence Toner
I have also noticed a reduction in acne breakouts because my skin is now well-balanced.
The Skin Method Routine is recommended for all skin types.
